Problem:

Attempting to upgrade the VCSA to the latest version, returns the following error.

“Error in method invocation. Timeout happens while sending message to microservice.”

Error in method invocation. Timeout happens while sending message to microservice.

This happens either selecting Stage Only or Stage and Install Update.

Solution:

Make sure you have a proper DNS setting in your VCSA. Additional, confirm that your VCSA (VM) is time sync with the ESXi host where is currently sitting. This last one was my issue, after correcting the time synchronization the VCSA upgrade can be carried on.

  1. Access to VMware Appliance Management: https://IP_or_FQDN:5480. If you don’t remember the root password, follow this blog post.
  2. Under Appliance Management, go to Time.
  3. Confirm that Current appliance time is sync with your ESXi host.

    • Hi, be sure you can resolve FQDN and your environment is time sync (Hosts, VCSA, Domain, etc.). Those are the common issues bringing this error up. Besides those, revise carefully network settings.

Unable to delete an "inaccessible" datastore

I was switching my storage array, so I migrated the VMs from that old datastore/storage to a new datastore/storage. The old datastore was shared by 3 ESXi hosts, no cluster. After migrating the VMs and unmount/delete the datastore, it was still presented in two of the ESXi hosts and was marked as inaccessible.
