I am always studying and learning something new. Recently, have been studying more about HCI architectures. I already had some fundamental knowledge of vSAN, Nutanix, and overall HCI concepts, but never studied beyond the basics.
Last week, I came across with a vendor-neutral HCI video course. The course was free and imparted by a well-known instructor, David M Davis. So I just said, Oh well… let’s do it.
This video training was on https://www.hyperconverged.org/, and I said “was”, because seems that it was removed early this week. I guess because it was in a beta stage and… well, I don’t really know.
The video training advertised the following:
"The term hyperconvergence and knowledge of the benefits it offers are still unfamiliar to many IT professionals and organizations around the world. While there are a few vendor-specific training and certification options, there are no vendor-neutral training options available today. That changes today!
In this vendor-neutral video training course you’ll learn what hyperconverged infrastructure is, how it can help you to be more efficient, different hyperconvergence architectures, how hypeconvergence helps your company, and how to implement hyperconvergence in your datacenter!
Upon completion of the course, you’ll take a final exam and, upon passing, you’ll achieve the hyperconverged infrastructure professional certificate! (and be given a badge and printable certificate with your name on it)."
This video training was intended to give you the big picture of HCI. It was a good entry-level course for any for new HCI learners. Every chapter has a simple quiz with few questions and at the end of the whole course a 40 questions final exam (same questions as the quizzes). Very simple and straightforward. It took me about 2 hours to finish the whole course.
HCI is a must-learn solution for any (IT) technical person, so it felt good to learn and refresh a couple of concepts. This was not really a “professional certification”, but a certificated of completion. Of course, I don’t feel any kind of expert on this technology after finalizing it, but again, it covered all the general and fundamental knowledge about HCI.
